Unconventional ideas paired with useful products can make lasting impressions. Though APTCO works mostly with small businesses, we love to see partnerships with national brands. It turns out that large companies often have co-op marketing budgets for just such a purpose. Here are 3 examples we found for inspiration.
Just in time for NCAA March Madness, Pizza Hut announced the return of a beloved offering from the 1990s: mini basketballs. These new mini basketballs feature a black and red pattern with “No One Out Pizzas The Hut” in the brand’s classic font.
Only available for a limited time, the nostalgic offering was joined by the resurgence of another Pizza Hut item: the Big New Yorker. The Big New Yorker, a 16-inch New York-style pizza, came with specialty March Madness packaging at participating locations. The pizza box turns into a basketball hoop and backboard that pairs perfectly with the new mini basketballs.
Hershey Canada partnered with Girl Up to launch five limited-edition chocolate bars. In celebration of International Women’s Day, each bar highlights a young Canadian woman taking action to build a more positive future. To further this commitment to a more equitable future, Hershey Canada also pledged $40,000 to Girl Up, an organization providing young women with the training, tools and community to build leadership and accelerate social change.
Hershey Canada worked with Toronto-based mural artist Gosia Komorski to bring the women’s stories to life on limited-edition Hershey’s Cookies N’ Creme and Hershey’s Whole Almond bars.
Some fans love ranch dressing so much that they’d bathe in it. Well, Wingstop partnered with Buff City Soap to help fans do just that. On March 10, or National Ranch Day, they offered bars of ranch-inspired soaps to the first 100 fans. And, to make celebrating tastier, guests could get a free side of ranch with the code “FREERANCH” on Wingstop.com and the app.
With notes of buttermilk, parsley and dill, fans can smell the undeniably craveable Wingstop ranch while bathing. The soap itself is a milky, speckled bar, resembling a cup of ranch packed with seasoning, complete with faux veggie toppers.
These kinds of partnerships also work well for non-profits, schools and colleges, or any kind of organization looking to create some buzz. Give us a call at APTCO to get started.
